Costs
Consultation Fee
New Patient/Problem Consultation £220
Follow up Consultation £140
My fee for an initial consultation will not exceed £220.00 and my fee for any follow-up consultation will not exceed £140.00.
If following the initial consultation you decide to proceed with private surgery you will require a second outpatient appointment to confirm that you understand the procedure and its risks, have no further questions and consent to the operation. This consultation is billed as a follow up at £140.00 for insured and self-funding patients. Please note that if you are self-funding a fixed price quote for surgery from the hospital does not include this consultation and you will be billed separately for this.
Following your consultation you may need certain tests (such as blood tests or imaging, for example an X-ray, MRI or CT scan) to help me diagnose your condition. If the test is undertaken by the clinic or hospital, and not by me, the fees for those tests will be determined by the clinic or hospital and charged to you, or your private medical insurer, separately.
If there are any fees which I will charge in relation to any of the tests I advise that you have, I will let you know what those will be.
Depending on the nature of the condition you are referred with, you may require an injection for which you will be charged £105.00 by me. You will also receive a separate invoice from the Hospital for the procedure.
Private Medical Insurance
BUPA pays Professor Middleton’s consultation and surgical fees in full with no gap for the patient
If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation, to check the terms of your policy, particularly the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees.
I am recognised by the private medical insurers listed below:
Allianz, Aviva, AXA PPP, BUPA, BUPA International, Cigna, CS Healthcare, Exeter, Health On Line, Simply Health, Vitality and WPA
Please note you are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer.
Please be aware that as part of the bookings/arrivals process it is Nuffield Health policy to register card payment details for all insured and non-insured patients. You will be asked to provide this at Reception upon arrival. Your consultant’s invoices are separate and we request any direct settlement to be made by cheque or cash.
Self Pay
Patients who are not insured and would like private surgery will be provided with a fixed price [inclusive] by the hospital they choose to have their surgery at.
